Same here old boy. I went to the supermarket this morning and there was a young lad sat outside with a card asking for money to buy food. Whilst I was doing my shopping I bought a bagful of extras for him. The joy on his face when I came out of the store and gave it to him was something to see. Made my day!
Well done.
See? We CAN all get along. You did something to help your fellow man. Charity and good deeds are not restricted to certain faiths or beliefs or philosophies of life. You found a bit of joy and he benefits from a stranger reaching out to him in kindness.
We'll now return to the usual arguments about stuff that really doesn't matter if you believe in the essential goodness of most human beings. Which I do.

It's not an unusual thing for me to do. I have helped my fellow man throughout my life. As you probably know, Spain is in a pretty bad way at the moment with massive unemployment. All the supermarkets have a 'Poor bin'. Shoppers can buy something for those less fortunate and drop it in the bin on their way out of the store where it is distributed to local people who are struggling. I always buy an extra €20 worth when I'm shopping. Why?? Well...'there but for a twist of fate go I'

That's what I said to the lady with the contributions form after I had emerged from a Very bad patch thanks to the banks. I now do what I can with an org. that helps street people. Get a place, a job and a start. Or a ticket home if they got stuck.
