Again...how exactly does that disqualify him from being worshiped?
Because to some adults, it makes him look like a spoiled 3-year-old, having a tantrum in a supermarket.

Except your god kills people instead of just kicking and screaming in a petulant rage.

And he doesn't have temper tantrums.

Actually, you don't necessarily need to misbehave. Just being born into the wrong religion can get you a one way ride to eternal torture.

God reminds me of a divorced spouse. At first it's all lovey -dovey and then a few squabbles and a bit of furniture - smashing and a separation and finally spouse transfers affections to another lovey -dovey and the ex becomes an object of hate, persecution and eternal torment...except that the ex still believes that He is looking after them. As do all those who believe in a god, no matter what bad crap is dished out to them.

Isn't it eminently clear that this is merely self -delusion on an individual, community and national scale. Isn't it desperately needed for us to give up this idea that God is on all our sides and against all the others (unless they become allies) and realize that we are no more favoured or justified than anyone else?

This is the way I see it also.

Add that this has always worked for me: Proverbs 3:6 "In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy path."

Add the Golden Rule and you have my faith in a nutshell!
