The bible makes such interesting reading at times.

An obscure, rarely discussed book is Habakkuk. Especially Habakkuk 3. And specifically, Habakkuk 3:3:
"God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise."
Completely in context, clear, unambiguous. Teman (Edom). And it's confirmed once again in Deuteronomy 33:2:
"And he said, The LORD came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand went a fiery law for them."
So, an Arabian god, adopted by the Hebrews.

Now, if you want to read an in depth discussion on this, you might find this Jewish newspaper article relevant:

AND!!

This god had horns!!!!

Again, from Habakkuk:
3:4 And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power.
Guess which other regional god had horns?? The Canaanite Baal.

Amazing, isn't it?

I don't think that any but the uninformed and denialist God -believer would deny that a very human god was evolved into a much more divine one, and more recently into a cosmic spirit.

I just want to stick with the early 'God' though. it was hinted in the Bible that 'God' (and His wife Asherah) was originally one of many. While the references in Habbakuk and the rest can be 'Interpreted' to mean something else ..."Sure he came from Paran, but first he came down from heaven..." You see why this stops short of the Cosmic spirit ?

But archaeology has shown that YHWH was just one of many Canaanite Gods - perhaps the particular one of the Israelite goatherding mountain tribe and while it was just the one they should worship and no others it evolved into the Top god, (like all the other Mesopotamian Top Gods) and later the Only one and the others didn't exist.

And then later he becomes a cosmic spirit and now they are even trying to put it outside of the Cosmos itself.

But that what happened with Jesus. originally a man selected by God to be the messiah, became a man driven about By God, and somehow a man that became God, and Jesus is now a cosmic spirit. The same thing happened with Krishna and i believe even Buddha was turned from just a series of enlightened men into a cosmic observing Eye, and of course all the hindu gods have been brought together like a spiritual BB event of Brahmah - the One god who is the Intelligent cosmos.

And the Greeks with their Zeus and the rest were going that way as well. The Gods were ogiginally superhumans put on top of Olympus - nicely out of reach. Until they had a look on top and it was just rock. So they soon became impalpable spheres of perfection bobbing about in space. You can bet that, is Paul had been quietly rubbed out in a Tarsus back alley and Christianity had dies with the disciples in the Jewish war, we'd be having the same wrangles with Codex - literalist Fundamentalists who believe it cover to cover, Homeric and Ovidic, while twitting the skeptics for reading it 'literalistically' and all the gods have been combined into a Cosmic Zeus, occupying the universe, or even outside it.

yeah, like I said many times before. You stick within a very narrow field of view "they are wrong about their god".

anything outside of that and your sects of atheism's dogma begins to crumble. your sect of atheism is easily debunked.

lmao .. stick with talking about a dude that didn't die and rise literally. thats like playing the grade girls volley ball team. lmao ... you sure showed them.

A couple of things:
1.) How is Chavakuk an "obscure, rarely discussed" book?
2.) Middle age paintings of Moses showed him with horns because they also misinterpreted "rays" for "horns". It's where the idea that we have horns comes from.
3.) Haaretz is a "Jewish" newspaper just like the New York Times is a "Christian" newspaper. Haaretz is an Israeli newspaper; they are not the same thing.

If you would like to read the whole book in the origional Hebrew with a vetted English translation, you can find it here: https://www.chabad.org/library/bible_cdo/aid/16197

There is nothing and will never be anything "magnificent" in battle.
