That's a bingo. At least, that's what did it in my case.

Default Would you respect your child's religious preference?

I would and I have, as all my children are now adults and all have chosen their own paths in life.

My mom wasn't religious but I did grow up in the Bible Belt and regions of the south until I was 14.
I was and still an very much turned off by all the conservatism.

We should be mainstream and in the now and progressive, instead were bound and held down and stifled.

We should all be free to progress and live.

A cashier I work with is openly gay and has even brought his bf by to shop, they're a mixed race couple as well, I have no issue with either thing but I feel for him, that's go to be so hard, the negatively judgy comments he must get.

And I thought I was going to get flack, I don't get anything.

Religion is the only thing holding society back from being a totally free society. As soon as gays and progressive science are accepted, when two dudes that marry and stem cell research cures a deadly disease we will finally be free!

Macklamore puts it so well:

We become so numb to what we're saying
A culture founded from oppression
Yet we don't have acceptance for 'em
Call each other ******* behind the keys of a message board
A word rooted in hate, yet our genre still ignores it
Gay is synonymous with the lesser
It's the same hate that's caused wars from religion
Gender to skin color, the complexion of your pigment
The same fight that led people to walk outs and sit ins
It's human rights for everybody, there is no difference!
Live on and be yourself
When I was at church they taught me something else
If you preach hate at the service those words aren't anointed
That holy water that you soak in has been poisoned
When everyone else is more comfortable remaining voiceless
Rather than fighting for humans that have had their rights stolen
I might not be the same, but that's not important
No freedom till we're equal, damn right I support it

Little lengthy but.....and call me a hippie but why can't we preach tolerance and acceptance, why can't we break past these barriers we've set up and open our minds.
Why can't we just love and be loved?
Why can't we start a movement about everyone working together?

Religion is a barrier between us and other countries, religion breeds intolerance and hate between each other, Relugion is how we define and separate ourselves and its why we are where we are now as a society.

We were once taught that the earth was flat and that everything revolved around the earth, religion said so many things about the world and they have all been proven wrong so why listen to something that has been proven wrong so many times.
