How do you feel about Fred Phelps and his Religious Clan and his Church and their Beliefs?
I don't believe that they really believe what they say. They have several lawyers in the family and I believe the only reason they go around provoking people is to bring about lawsuits. I also think people have become aware of this and pretty much ignore them or laugh at them these days.
I am a member of the Patriot Guard Riders and have stood face to face with these people many times. It is good to note that when they picket a veteran's funeral they only attend the one's that they know will draw media attention. ie. KIA's and high profile veterans.
Basically a church of a form of Godliness and activism but would lack any real power from God , as their actions and words break Jesus Commandments and the legalism is contrary to the character of Holy Spirit which Christians are called to be ...Something like the fallen churches were the fire and brimstones preacher preach under an authority of condemnation against sin were then no redemption of Christ will be given , which would be hypocrisy
I think he is voicing what many churchgoers really believe but are afraid to speak out. Gays burning in hell, Muslims burning, etc.... The only exception would be the protest of funerals.
How many Christians want to bomb the hell out of the Middle East ? How many would love to see them removed from the country? Let's not even talk about how they feel about those gay folks. Phelps is just openly expressing himself.

Phelps and his 'family' should burn in hell for the heartache that they cause to the families of veterans and those killed in action. They even protested at some of the childrens' funerals of those killed in the tornado near Oklahoma City. All they want is notoriety. They sue to make money. I will never recognize them as Christians.
I feel they have a right to their beliefs and everybody needs to simply ignore them if they offend you so much. I really don't understand how a non-violent group of people can spur so much angst among the country. My theory is perhaps their words affect the people who read them so much because they feel it's true deep down inside or something. I get my knowledge from the Bible so when people like that get air time and get the public in a tizzy, I don't pay it any mind because I know my God and I know the word and they are clearly not following it. And I move on. Why can't the rest of America?

You judge groups by whether or not they are violent? Words wound as well. Especially if those words are on a sign that says "God Hates F***" and that sign is held up at the funeral of a gay man.
