Why not ask the cult members of Jimmy Jones? Or Heaven's Gate? Or the Branch Davidians? Oh that's right, you can't ask them. They all committed suicide for a made-up story. That is unless you think the Hale-Bopp comet had an alien empire hidden within it.
Did they know it was all a lie? Did they see their leader killed by crucifixion and then rise again?

No. If they believed that Jesus had risen, it was in the spirit. Paul pretty much points to this in his list of appearances to various people, Simon, the twelve, 500 at once and then James. Quite unlike the Gospel account (though Luke tries to fiddle in an appearance to 'Simon') and Paul finally says that jesus appeared to him - not the Luke story about about appearing on the way to Damascus - which story Paul nowhere endorses - but when 'a man' (Paul coyly points to his privileged self) ascended to the 'Thirs heaven' to have a chat with Jesus.
These are appearances of a 'spirit' Jesus in the heads of the visionaries and is in no way anything to do with a body getting up and walking.
Those are later, made -up and dreadfully contradictory stories. The Disciples - whatever happened to them - knew nothing about walking bodies.
Christianity is true for those that "believe" it and false for those who don't...just as Islam is true for those that "believe" it and false for those who don't.
The real question should be...why do people who "believe" a particular religion attempt to force it down the throats of those who don't believe it???
People can "believe" whatever they want to "believe"...it is a PERSONAL BELIEF and should be kept that way. It's fine to share your "beliefs" if someone asks about them, but to condemn, judge, and berate people who don't "believe" it crosses the line.
Actually it is based on your opinion that some of your experiences are spiritual.
As is your opinion that none of yours are spiritual, mordant. Our opinions are all we have . . . no matter how much consensus accompanies them.
