This thread epitomizes the distinction between carnal and spiritual thinking. Spiritual thinking focuses on the state of mind and intentions of the stepper. Carnal thinking focuses on the act of stepping itself. The only thing that determines right or wrong is the state of mind of the stepper . . . not the act itself.

I agree with most of it. With the exception of the Vizio comment. I am a little kinder to Vizio. I can accept the fact that most people place no value on the life of small hardly noticed creatures.

However, I find only 2 times it is permissible to kill any creatures. Those being for self preservation and if necessary for food. Even then the killing must be done swiftly and with minimal pain.

When I lived in Louisiana I discovered that often the Raisins in Raisin pie had wings.

I try not to step on bugs unless they have entered my house. I feel that the bug's life is as important to it, as mine is to me! As long as they are not interfering with me, I will let them be.

pretty funny.

I imagine someone with a fly in a jar calling him Uncle Joey..

Where's the fly rights advocate groups when you need them?

Playing xbox is unnecessary and immature too..but we still do that. And for those who say it's cruel to find it fun to kill things, why do so many games feature killing and destruction. Is it really much more wrong to find it funny to watch the chaos and panic when I lift my foot off an ant colony's home, than it is to shoot up a bunch of fake soldiers in Call of Duty?

I've stepped on probably hundreds of bugs or more in my life, most of them on purpose.

Wonder where the OP lives? Wonder if he has ever had any experience with a fire ant colony?
