It happened in a few places in the Bible Belt. John Lennon gave an interview where he talked about the Beatles' popularity. One sentence "We're more popular than Jesus" got pulled out of context and several DJ's and preachers (who probably wouldn't have known John Lennon if he walked up to them and said "Good Morning") decided that he blasphemed.
Records were burned. A lot of threats against Lennon's life were made. I never found the verse in the Bible where God said, "Call a radio station and threaten to kill John Lennon in Jesus's name".
Did anyone get killed because of what John Lennon said? Even if someone did get killed because of what he said, not all Christians are alike just as not all Atheists are alike as demonstrated during the Atheist ruled China had government supported youths to looted Churches, Buddhist monastries and other places of worship during the Cultural Revolution in the same decade as when the Beatles was around.
Anyway the difference of those of the hysteria of the Beatles fans and the people slain are the testimonies of those that experienced that. You can google that up. Yes there is a difference and a difference experience of those that were caught up with the hysteria of the Beatle fans and those that were slain by Benny Hinn.

The only thing slain by Benny Hinn are the wallets of the people who give him money. He has a VERY nice mansion in Orange County, CA. It's a two minute walk to the beach and is right next door to the Ritz Carlton. (A five star resort.) I have an idea the people attending his "services" and putting money in his collection plates have never enjoyed living in one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in the country. Hinn does. He probably also enjoys the view he has of the sun setting behind Catalina Island.
Whatever the criticism of Benny Hinn even if they from Christian, he still has lead many, many people to Jesus. Benny Hinn gives Jesus the credit of his services and the healing and the people that are slain. Benny does not give credit of him slaying people to him, he sees it the work of Jesus.
The Beatles did not give credit to Jesus on their success nor did they gave him credit for him. Whatever their success in their life does not promise success in the next life and that is for everyone. That is due to where they stand towards Jesus.
What Jesus wants everyone to do is to turn to him as their own personal saviour, that includes people like Benny Hinn.
If you think he is a false teacher then it is your opinion. I not here to judge him. After all only God is truly the judge of all humankind eventually.

The only difference I can see is that the Beatles hysteria was at a real group of people in front of them. the one exploited by Benny Hinn for his own enrichment is an imaginary one. Benny doesn't even need to pay him to perform.
I do not see how Benny Hinn differs from other forms of entertainment, Historically people have swarmed to the bizarre and mystical.
