Do we have any proof or evidence to support this idea?

Abiogenesis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Seems to be mostly speculation by those who do not believe in a Creator.

No. But don't let facts stand in the way of "science".

Give me an example, then. Please. Abiogenesis is a fairy tale dreamed up by "scientists" because the only alternative is to believe in a creator.

I wasn't chortling about abiogenesis. I have no idea whether the hypothesis/theory has legs or not. Nor do I care one way or the other.

I got a kick out you, of all people, calling out science because it doesn't deal in facts.

LOL. It was a thigh-slapper.

If you ever catch me saying something untrue and claiming it to be truth, I invite you to call me out on it.

So, the answer is that there is no proof of any way in which life originated. Now, the difference between science and religion is that religion assumes "God did it," and science says, "We don't know, but we will do our best to figure it out without relying on anything but what can be observed and deduced from observation." At the present time that investigation has borne speculation and hypotheses for testing.

The REAL difference, though, is that science finds "we don't know" to be a reasonable position as a starting point for investigation.

Not that I know of.

Yeah, that is how I see it. I have never believed in a goddess, even though Shannon Bream on Fox News comes pretty close.

Hello Mr. 5150, All.

The ancient Greeks did not understand that the rotation of the earth caused them to face toward the sun at some times and away from it at others. So they attributed the rising and setting of the sun to the Titan Helios driving his chariot across the sky.

The Norse did not understand that occasionally the moon is in a position such that its shadow is cast across the earth, creating a solar eclipse. They attributed it to the god Fenrir swallowing the sun.

The scientific explanation for these phenomena came to be understood in time, making the ancient explanations seem rather silly to most people in the modern age. Your account for the beginning of life on Earth is no different. In short, the fact that we don't have a full naturalistic understanding right now does not mean that a naturalistic explanation does not exist...just ask the ancient Greeks.

Since you enjoy reading Wikipedia, let me suggest this page to you in exchange for the one you linked above:
God of the gaps - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thanks.
