Are deeply religious people nicer personally, why? (church, agnostics, faith)

My brother and I were talking about some of the bad people we have been in contact with during our life. A good percentage of them were very religious and active in their church. I do not understand it. Why would a person who is so interested in the lords teaching be so cruel to their fellow man? I would think that the lords teaching would say that if you follow my way then you have to teach everyone with respect and be so very nice to everyone.

IMHO, absolutely NOT! There are many GOOD people who are religious. There are many BAD people who are religious. There are many GOOD people who are non-believers (athiests/agnostics). There are many BAD people who are non-believers. Unfortunately, some religious groups like to portray that you are a "better" person IF you are religious! Values have NOTHING to do with religion or lack thereof! I know MANY people who have EXCELLENT values, who are kind, good-hearted folks, who have NO religion, as I also know many who HAVE religion (various faiths) who are also good kind hearted folks.
