The problem yo are addressing is that of authority. So much of Christianity has taught that the Bible IS the only authority that it then becomes a question of tossing the whole thing out if any part of it is shown to be wrong. That would be reasonable if it were true that the Bible is THE authority. It is not. Even the Bible does not record such a statement, but DOES record a promise of the Spirit as guide and indicates means and imperative to test that guidance.
