I do feel it...not really a "Him" though, an "It". "It" always felt better to me than "Him or "Her." I want an omniscient being to exist for the same reason I want alien bacteria to exist beneath the surface of Mars, in the clouds of Venus, or beneath the ice of Europa.

More life is better. More things to experience the universe is better than that. It means more of the universe has value, because there is more that experiences it, which gives it value.

If there is an omniscient being, even if it doesn't particularly care about humanity, that means all of the universe has value.

I simply don't see a good reason to believe my feelings are accurate. I'd probably call myself a deist half the time and atheist the other half if it wouldn't irritate so many people on Citi-Data. I have described myself as "A deist, atheist, agnostic, or whatever" off Citi-Data though.

I don't see the difference between the three as particularly relevant outside of debate websites and surveys.

If a person sees absolutely zero reason to believe in something, but doesn't pass a lie detector test when that person says "I don't believe in X," does that person believe in X? I'm not sure I'd pass a lie detector test if I said "I don't believe in a god."

I think we all have this at one time or another.
Sit me on a quiet beach listening to the ocean and I'm there, filled with peace and contentment, never happier.

Miss Hepburn, it is hard not to be heartened by your enthusiasm, positivity and zest for life.

I just have to say that what you see at the wonders of life I and other atheists see also, the difference is that we don't attach a god label to it. We view universe as wonderful in its own right and all the more wonderful the more we understand about it.

However I have no wish to rain on your parade here so I will say no more and leave you to discuss what your see as god.
You have inspired me however to start my own inspirational thread about the wonders of life on behalf of 'my own people'.

Thanks!

Funny, you would say the word "however".

Impersonal..personal...all part of the paradox...up is down ..and there
Is no night...makes no sense to the worldly mind.
Thank u for your post! Much appreciated.

See how different it feels with "Her"?

I play the piano and I am made aware that all the sounds are within 'Her".
They were created by "Her".
The air that they vibrate in ...it's all 'Her".
Her, Her, Her....She is under my feet, under my thumb on the gate latch...
I am in love with my Creator, Mother, Goddess.

or "IT"

I play the piano and I am made aware that all the sounds are within 'IT".
They were created by "ITt".
The air that they vibrate in ...it's all 'IT".
IT, IT, IT....IT is under my feet, under my thumb on the gate latch...
I am in love with my Creator, IT
Sigh ...how do you notice or love IT or feel IT's Divine Presence?

IT fills me like a warm Cognac on a Winter night...

Just sayin'

It's great that you feel so full of joy...

You are correct that everything that exists is OF God . . . but God is definitely personal . . . just multi-personal . . . comprised of ALL sentience.

Thank you.

Ha, I realized tonight I have heard God, my Father Creator, 3 times...not 2...
After the first time, when I started breathing again after the awe of the moment and
the message, I did think,
"Oh, this is why they say He..."
I understood.
Definitely, for me, He was masculine. Second time, in a whispered Voice, androgynous, leaning to masculine.
I do think God appears as you relate to Him...I 'think' of 'Him' as Spirit and have seen Him as White
Light inside myself, Realer than Real.
(I don't see matter as real.) BUT, I still come from a Judaic-Christian background so that is deep
in my subconscious mind.

Many see Jesus in NDEs; I bet many Hindu's see Krishna....or their Guru.
I am very respectful of the Divine Mother aspect and have been visited by Her, also....and felt
like a baby in Her arms the whole time.
Now, as a memory...it was absolutely pure and luscious. Sigh.

I couldn't possibly say 'It', ever. Nice talkin to you, Ceist.

Beautifully said Miss Hepburn, as always, you bring me something inspiring to think about

Quote:
how do you notice or love God or feel His Divine Presence?
I notice and love God through his natural creation where I seek his presence the most and feel, see Him in all that he created first in preparation for us. It is there that I am in personal companionship the most with the Creator.

The best thing I ever did was to take the exit door from organized religion and find my own way to understanding my deeply embedded belief that He is a personal God without any rules, traditions or attached to knowing Him and seeking His presence in my life.

I truly believe we all are created as different as the snowflakes and our paths back to the creator are our own, yet He is the architect of our path. That is what we seek for peace, love, tolerance and understanding.
