I'm wondering if it is possible to be a Christian without all of the different Denominations?

I think if you belong to more than one you're doing it wrong.

I think it's possible for some to consider themselves followers of Jesus, as they perceive him to be, and not align themselves with the dogma of a particular denomination.

I think there's at least a couple of folks who post here who might qualify as such a Christian.

Absolutely. I wan't raised within a denomination, don't classify myself as belonging to one and am a Christian.

I know a lot of people who do the same. Most of us are Boomers with the Boomer aversion to labels and a preference for inclusion (the other guy's beliefs are OK too) over exclusion (the other guy is wrong and headed for hell).

Okay DoDropInn, I have another question pertaining to the first one... Was Christianity started by Jesus?....or was he a Jewish Rabbi going about teaching to the down and out and the poor.?

This is my humble opinion in 50 words or less: Christianity sprang from Jesus of Nazareth. Christian denominations are a result of human beings not agreeing about the who, what, why, where, when and how of Jesus and pretty much everything connected to him. Including his mother.

okay, let's stop and think about this, Jesus was not a Christian, he was a Jew..... So who started all of these Christian denominations and why? was it because that Christians could not agree on how to or to interpret Jesus's teachings?
