Interesting statement, but only half of the full statement, let me explain,a couple years ago I was sitting with a group of about 20 individuals and we were talking about different religions and I brought the statement up and asked everybody to think about it before I completed the rest of the statement, now mind you these were people of all different types of religions and beliefs, so now I bring this statement here, but only the first half for now and I welcome all of your thoughts on this. So let the process begin, but let's be respectful of everyone's opinion and thoughts here.
Man created god(s) to meet man's spiritual needs, to cleanse man's conscience, to encourage all deeds done in the name of god(s), but for man's gain. God is like an external conscience that always agrees. For these reasons man created god(s).

If we have spiritual needs then we must have a spirit and therefore a spiritual Father?
This is what I believe Genesis 1:27 "So God created people in His own image, God patterned them after Himself, male and female, He created them".
North Carolina, I do appreciate you quoting the Bible and the book of Genesis, but if I may be permitted, the statement that you just made would cause me to thank that your God is both male and female, how is that possible? Mind you this is just an innocent question.

seconded.
and i think it is entirely possible to have a cooperative, intellectual conversation about God, or a lack thereof, without becoming defensive and putting down others' opinions, whatever they may be.

I believe God made both man and woman in His image, neither man or woman is made more in the image of God than the other. God has no physical body, instead we are reflections of God's glory.
