So Alice, they really were an NGO? Do I understand you correctly? I still feel I should consult an elder about this.
You can if you like. I am sure they remember the letter being read...I do. It was all a misunderstanding. They joined simply for the purpose of continuing to use the Department of Public Information...which prior to 1991 they had access to without having to register. The registration papers in 1991 made it clear that they were not affiliated w/ the UN by being so registered, but the ones in 2000 were worded differently so the WTS withdrew.
Not sure how the letter got on Wikipedia...but it's nice that it's there. Not that it will make much difference in the opinion of those determined to think we are hypocrites.
Really? Why are you confused? That's the whole truth of it right there. That library was important in the writing of our articles about ecological and social issues. Some of the information in it was not available elsewhere...we had a right to use it. When I was approached about it, I simply explained that and no one questioned me further. Wierd that some people make such a big deal about it. We were not a member of the United Nations...never have been.
So you are saying that yes it is true? Like I say I must talk to someone in the truth, I will call around today and find out.
It is a shocker to me, because doesnt the UN somehow belong to the wild beast? Isnt the UN a political organization? If this is true it would floor me, as I dont believe they would get involved at all with them.
But like I said, I will consult some local friends and see what they can make of it.
This was actually one of my witnessing points to a baptist at work, I mentioned that our religion would never have anything to do with the UN, despite many of Christendoms churches being involved with them. She was very anti-UN and was proud that her church did not get involved with either..
In my bible study with the jws I learned that the Un is in end time prophecy..I hope one of the Jw's tell us who they consider the Un to be in prophecy also maybe they can tell us also who the catholic church is in the endtime prophecies in Daniel and revelations..

Reason: spelling
I don't think you're understanding. The WTS never JOINED the UN. They simply REGISTERED to continue to use their library...a process which they were assured would NOT link them to the UN in any way. Unfortunately, they were so linked by nay-sayers throughout the nation and since the wording in the more recent registration papers did change, they discontinued their relationship.
The UN is indeed believed to be the epitome of the Wild beast and we will never deny that. You may talk to someone else in the organization if you like; I encourage to you...especially if you feel this could potentially stumble you. I have been baptized for 20 years and am still very active in the ministry. But you don't know me personally and I absolutely think you should research the facts yourself.

Yes we have reason to believe that one of the Wild Beasts of Revelation is representative of the UN. The Catholic Church, we feel, is simply one of the world's many religions. False religon ,as a whole, will be destroyed in Armageddon.
