No kidding. He's gutless as well as a lying hypocrite.

I've read that too and think it is the most pathetic, bizarre attempt to hold on to a TV show I have ever seen.

I think this bears repeating. Gothardism creates an awful lot of victims.

My priority, since Duggar was exposed as a child molester, has been to show the dangers of fundamentalism in general and Gothardism in particular. Women like Anna (whose own parents knew Duggar was a child molester.... yet encouraged the marriage) are valued only because they can reproduce. They are not educated. They are kept from living normal lives. They are treated as second-class citizens by men who let guys like Duggar get away with sexual crimes. And why do the men do that? Because they think the Bible tells them men are to be obeyed and women (who have to cover their knees at the beach but can be filmed giving birth on the toilet) should be subservient to men.

It's unknown if Duggar thought his hook-ups were to be subservient. Perhaps he switched roles to spice things up.

Are you speaking from 1st hand knowledge or just whatever stories you read about the "dangers of fundamentalism"? If the definition of fundamentalist is a Bible believing Christian then I know several churches who do not subscribe to such legalism

I've repped you once already on this post, but I wish I could again.

Great post.

But I won't. If the evidence is true then I have no problem admitting that I was wrong to defend Josh Duggar. This is a disgusting display of hypocrisy especially considering that he served on the Family counsel while actively seeking and paying a lot of money to secretly cheat on his wife. My heart goes out to his wife who probably now sees her husband for being a liar and a cheater.

That said, it is remotely possible that someone stole his CC and setup a fake account. Although I find it pretty telling that the account was removed exactly around the time that all the molestion mess came out.
Kudos for this.

The "courting" process the family has is extremely nontraditional. I can't speak for everyone, but I know for me, spending 11 days with my girlfriend on vacation by ourselves brought a lot of things up and situations that we wouldn't have had during our normal dating here at home. At the end, it actually brought us closer together -- but I know from other friend's experience, this alone time ended up making one of the parties realize that they weren't right for each other.

The fact that the Duggar's have every date chaperoned makes me wonder if the couple can really get to know each other. I've been a third wheel and have had third wheels on a number of dates. The couple always act differently than when alone. It's entirely possible that this "no touching, no kissing, no alone time" until married causes the couple to get married sooner than they should and to not discover potential issues in the relationship further on.

Just my 2c on that, I guess.

Good question. I would say it was his upbringing. The Duggars seem all squeaky clean but when you scratch the surface, you find so much dirt under there. They blame their hypocrisy on Satan because they couldn't possible do anything wrong.

Oh horse pucky!!

It's been the standard fundies method to stand up and say I have sinned!, then asking for forgiveness and then saying it's in Jesus name.

They been doing that since Jimmy Swaggart.

It is so standard a methodology that I can understand anyone even buying that crap anymore.
