Means just what it said The Prophetic Word repeats the conviction and is Not some time line of reason , ...That outside are dogs (cruel biting people) , and sorcerers (use false beliefs not of God). and ho mongers (adultery and lustful people) , and murderers and idolaters , and whosoever love making lies ........... See it is just a repeat or abbreviation at the end of the book of Revelation , and no big deal
My view would be that this is Christianity in its earliest form when it was still very close to the Last days ideas of Jewish messianism.
Jesus would be coming in their lifetimes, just as it says in the gospels. Some of the disciples would still be alive. The Sanhedrin who pinned a blaphemy charge on him would gawp is amazement at the sight of his coming in the clouds. And those who had 'fallen asleep' would (as Paul says) emerge from their graves and rise up to meet Jesus in midair.
Everyone would be alive on the earth, and (give or take a global armageddon or two) would be sorted into sheep and goats and the ones who were found worthy would be admitted to the holy city of the messiah on earth. The rest would be left outside. The question of heaven and hell is irrelevant. This is a later idea foisted on Christianity by the Greek Christians.
That is the explanation, or so I suggest. Of course, if you reject this view and insist that Revelations has to be interpreted in terms of being judged and sent to to a place of eternal bliss or a place or eternal torment that doesn't exist except in the spirit world...then there is no way you can ever understand the book of Revelation.
"Outside" is a figurative word used to describe "not inside". It does not indicate that they are actually there by the gate....it just means that they are not present INSIDE.

But they are coming through the gate after being washed. It kinda sounds like they have a Chance to repent or something. If the outside is not literal, then inside can't be either. We can split a verse in half like that and choose what is literal. It makes me wonder if those outside are slowly coming to know who Jesus is, then coming inside.
