Except that you have given the punchline away before the joke , or set the hook before the fish bites , as it were.
But I just really didn't anticipate the OP not being grasped by the non fundie crowd here. That still makes me shake my head.
That's because you didn't express it correctly. You actually expressed a different question from "what if the rules of another religion were imposed on you."
What you expressed was, "How about if the rules common to several religions were imposed on the nation." That's a different question.
Im not going to bother. If I were to come across a thread OP like this, my reaction would be " well, lets see how the fundamentalist Christians feel about other religions try to force their beliefs onto society at large".
I am amazed that this went over everyone's head .
Wow.
Poe's law: “Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humour, it is impossible to create a parody of fundamentalism that someone won't mistake for the real thing.”
Poe’s Law also has an inverse meaning, stating that non-fundamentalists will often mistake sincere expressions of fundamentalist beliefs for parody.
Buddhists believe it is , to use the Christian term , an immoral act to kill sentient animals.
Muslims and Jews believe that eating pork and improperly killing animals is a sin.
Hindus believe that cows are sacred and to kill and eat one a grave sin.
Given that 4 of the worlds major religions have religious issues with meat production and eating in this country, should we acknowledge their beliefs and pass laws to ban the sale and consumption of meat in the US? If not, why not?
This is really wrong. Hindus do eat meat, just not cows. The idea is to not kill it yourself. The Jews don't eat pork because pork is unclean. the idea of killing meat is that the blood should be drained property.
Not all Buddhists are vegetarians. This first precept along says to refrain from killing, but that doesn't mean that you can't eat what is killed.

We grasped it. It was an absurd and obvious attempt to slap the religious in the face. Rather like a ten year old that puts a whoopie cushion under your seat and then tells you over and over to sit down while grinning like an idiot.

Please don't try to tell me what I was saying. As the one saying it, I know exactly what my point was. If you didn't grasp that it was about if we would allow other religions to enforce their moralistic views on us, thats your problem , not mine.
The entire point was would Americans, specifically the fundie ones that love to try and enforce their morals on American society, allow the same to be done to them by other religions.
But...WHOOOOSh... this sailed right over the heads of some.

Well , it wasn't really a parody. It was meant to engage the fundies to get their response to having others try to force their morals on them.

Actually your post shows you didn't, or you wouldn't maintain that it was an attempt to slam the religious. The point was as I have previously explained, which has nothing to do with demeaning any religion or specific religious person.
Im not going to bother. If I were to come across a thread OP like this, my reaction would be " well, lets see how the fundamentalist Christians feel about other religions try to force their beliefs onto society at large".

It didn't, and the point was addressed. I am amazed that you did not see that.
