God does not produce these hard things in the world , but God could remove the hard things when faith is exercised , like climate change God could remove all the co2 out of the atmosphere if there was a faith being exercised , and the lead in the spirit is ``don`t worry about it is only temporary ``...Still God could remove the excess gas is faith is exercised , but the world is quick to condemn man for the gas which is alien to God ... Then all the empty churches as people turn their back of God , where is the faith going to Come from as many churches condemn the very grace of God .......
All of the violence, threats, killing, war, terrorism, global warming, etc. etc. occurring on earth right now, do you believe it's a sign from God to remind us of him and/or the world coming to an end?
1) No -- nor do I think it's Santa Claus punishing us for being naughty.
2) Your implicit suggestion that violence/war/terrorism is increasing is wrong. It's not - violence is decreasing, though people who judge reality by what the 24/7 news-cycle bombards them with are frequently even more detached from reality than usual. If you're interested in disabusing yourself of this incorrect notion (though I'm skeptical that you would be), I highly recommend Steven Pinker: Frequently Asked Questions about The Better Angels of Our Nature: Why Violence Has Declined | Department of Psychology
3) We understand global warming -- there is no need to resort to your GodDidIt hocus-pocus.
Everything that happens in this world does so because God allows it or God ordains it. But no--I don't believe that he is trying to send us coded messages. If he wants to communicate with us, he'll do it in a way that is unmistakable--such as a collection of 66 books known as the Bible.
Yeah that seems to have been so clear that there are hundreds of sects of Christianity alone. Suggesting it isn't nearly as clear as it should be.
And the problems we face will never be solved if people keep thinking in supernatural and paranormal terms.
If people think that all of the negativity in this world is of God's doing, or if they believe all of this is a sign from God, there's no reason to actually get to work trying to mitigate, if not completely solve, some of these problems. Instead, people will merely huddle in their churches, clutching their Bibles, and wait for the so-called End Times to come.
Of course, if a version of the End Times does, in fact, arrive, it will have nothing whatsoever to do with God. Instead, our extinction will occur because too many people were terrified and paralyzed by their primitive superstitions to put down their Bibles and stop uselessly and futilely praying. Instead of gathering together to change that which we can and move toward making our civilization more sustainable, people will waste time beseeching the ceiling for a magical way out of our imminent doom.
Only too late, after they realize that they're going to die and still no Jesus, will they understand that humanity destroyed itself through its own inaction and inability to let go of Bronze Age myths and accept an Information Age reality.
I think you've misunderstood something.
End times =/= inevitable.
If I were to dump all of the world's oil into the oceans, killing all fish everywhere, and polluting all water, it would be the end of the world for the fish.
(1) But this might not be a permanent thing as this diffused into the water, the environment could in fact clean itself up over time.
(2) Humans could help clean the environment, averting this disaster.
This is a prophecy of what could happen, if humans are short-sighted, and continue to behave like "there's no one to stop us." Suppose we knocked over coral reefs to get more clams. Sure, there is nobody to stop you. But coral control the CO2 in the water, making it so fish don't suffocate. Fish don't breed there (this was on the news, why I'm talking about it) because there's no safe spawn grounds.
The environment is only one way we hurt the Earth. Institutions like slavery, patriarchy, inequality, and even our current housing situation are corrupt and create problems. And we will eventually feel the effects of these problems.
But rather than saying "it's the will of God" and doing nothing about it (no better than saying "I don't have to answer to God" and doing nothing about it btw), Christians are called to be good stewards of the Earth and its people. If everyone were to do the will of God today, whether we believe in God or not, just loving your neighbor, welcoming travelers, helping the homeless and poor, and feeding the hungry, we would have a better world and there would be no reason for a big flashy Revelation. The Revelation is actually about a second chance because we humans screwed up.
All of those have been happening from the beginning of human civilization. The only difference is now we get to see it all 24/7 in technicolor.
Spot on! I find it so irritating that people don't know their history or don't expand their thinking to realize this.
Horrific human behavior has been going on since the beginning of human civilization. Anyone can pick up a credible History of the World book and read all about it. Or just simply Google it.
As you say it is in our face 24/7 since the invention of TV and later on the World Wide Web.
Anyone reading this post will be witnessing this ugly truth up until their death. Sadly I realized this as reality back in the 80's.
