If this is about the apocrypha, they've never been considered inspired. They were not included in the Septuagint, and the Jewish people did not conisder them Scripture. The Church Fathers didn't consider them to be Scripture. It wasn't until many years later that they got added to the canon.
It makes perfect sense that the people who were too blind to recognize our Messiah should be trusted on these matters as our first authority.

Also, why do Christians not consider the Book of Daniel to be apocryphal. It was written two centuries after Malachi, which the Jews consider the final book of non-apocryphal writings. I think many Christians might think it was written earlier due to it's placement in the Christian Old Testament.

The Book of Daniel can be made to fit cozily into the narrative that they want to tell themselves in order to keep happily collecting money.

They didn't recognise him because he didn't fulfil their prophecies. Easy as that.

They didn't recognize Him because they were looking at the wrong prophecies.

What was the Messiah supposed to accomplish during his lifetime?

The Bible says that he will:

A. Build the Third Temple (Ezekiel 37:26-28).

B. Gather all Jews back to the Land of Israel (Isaiah 43:5-6).

C. Usher in an era of world peace, and end all hatred, oppression, suffering and disease. As it says: "Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall man learn war anymore." (Isaiah 2:4)

D. Spread universal knowledge of the God of Israel, which will unite humanity as one. As it says: "God will be King over all the world—on that day, God will be One and His Name will be One" (Zechariah 14:9).

The historical FACT is that the Jesus portrayed in the bible fulfilled none of these messianic prophecies.

Was it added to a Civil War canon?

Why don't you quote all the scriptures He did fulfill?
Obviously when He returns He will do A through D.

Nice hand-waving dismissal. Why do you interpret the prophecies he didn't fulfill as having a future fulfillment? Probably only because the gospels weren't crafted to "fulfill" those particular prophecies.

A Civil War cannon has nothing to do with the biblical canon.

Except your Christ kind of blew it as far as MT 24:34 concerned.

In fact, one could say that either didn't know how to predict or he was lying.
