Indeed!!! It would never have been fostered within a Christian religion if Christ's love and views had been followed instead of the barbaric OT ignorance and superstition. It is a travesty.

Even under the old Constitution of the Mosaic Law, it was only for the selfish sole purpose of getting rid of an unwanted child that would be considered as a High Crime in God's eyes. How does God feel about the death of innocent people - Psalm 11:5 - under the Mosaic Law it was Not ignorance or superstition but: life for life ( capital punishment )
To deliberately, on purpose, intentionally take a life for purely selfish reasons then equal justice was: life for life.
Abortion is Not a political issue, but a moral issue.

Christ (aka Jesus) taught plenty of fire and brimstone, if you believe the Bible is an accurate record of his teachings. Christ was the original Christian fundamentalist. Forum member twin.spin quotes the fire and brimstone from the mouth of Christ regularly. Read the "red letter" gospel passages he posts if you don't believe me. If Christ were alive today, he might be spewing the same stuff as the guy in the YouTube video.

Christ usually used fire in a figurative way. He never used the word "brimstonee." When used figuratively, "fire" and "furnace" were used to depict fiery trials.
Only Gehenna and its fires were usded literally to burn up bodies which were already dead rather than give them a decent Israelitish burial for the worst criminals.
But I do believe that aborting a baby is murder. It is interesting that mankind has become so desensitized to abortion that they see it like they see taking out the trash. Such a pity how low we have gone.
Ummm.... nope. First, obviously, he wasn't a Christian. Second...Christian fundamentalists invented their own brand of Christianity. Jesus had nothing to do with it.

Please post the passages you have in mind.
First of all, please remember KJV translated into English the word Gehenna as hell and hellfire.
Gehenna was just a garbage pit outside of Jerusalem where things were destroyed Not kept burning forever.
Satan is a sinner. Jesus will ' destroy ' Satan - Hebrews 2:14 B
Satan ends up in ' second death ' - Revelation 21:8
So, Gehenna and second death are fitting terms for destruction. The wicked will be destroyed forever - Psalm 92:7
The choice presented to mankind is simply ' repent ' or ' perish ' ( be destroyed ) - 2nd Peter 3:9
Everlasting punishment is: everlasting destruction - 2nd Thessalonians 1:9 - Not torture by fire.
