True story. A total stranger in line ahead of me this morning paid for my coffee. She looked atheist.
And you accepted god-less money!!
Because ONLY an atheists HATES CAPITALISM so much, the cannot wait to get rid of their money--the complete opposite of an evangelical capitalist who CLINGS to every last penny waiting for the rapture....
Good for him.... A couple of years ago I had a new roof put on a single mother's mobile home....That doesn't make me special, but just a person with empathy, and the means to help.
I was being facetious about it just to highlight that this type of assistance is frowned upon by many conservative Christians when it's done by the government they elect.
While it is a good gesture. ...why not aim for economic conditions which would enable the mother to earn a living wage?
Those things are not mutually exclusive. But a pastor's job is not to bring about political change, which is what I believe you're suggesting, no?
How would this pastor know if the woman went to church or not?
He asked her. She called him and asked for help with gas for her car. She told him she does not have a church, and he knew she didn't go to HIS church.
On a side note, I'm told that she never did visit the church, but that's ok--that wasn't a condition of giving the tank of gas.

I would have never asked the question. I would have listened to her, and met her at her local gas station to fill her tank. I would have said to call if she needed anything else, and I would help her obtain services.

Good for you. Glad to see you're willing to help people in need.
My entire professional life has been dedicated to helping others. It never leaves me, even now.
Glad to hear it. But then, you don't see me making posts that suggest atheists are a blight on society, or that one has to be a Chrisitian to do a good deed.
