Somewhat surprising DNA study shows that there is not one, but four distinct giraffe species. More astounding is that they don't interbreed.

We have heard the YEC on here espouse that a 'kind' was any critter that could breed and that the offspring would reproduce. Hence, they argue, one only need one dog "kind" as wolves and dogs and coyotes all can interbreed and produce fertile offspring.

So, YEC adherents, please explain how and why these giraffes, which look so much alike, are not one 'kind', and how the heck did Noah know?

Tall tale: study reveals that giraffes are four species, not one | Reuters

Raises hand and jumps up and down. I know! I know! He invented four kinds of freeze-dried species-specific Giraffe Chow*, watched the giraffes eat and loaded the ark after finding two of each species.

*Because God told him to. A detailed explanation of the how's and why's was edited out of the Bible because, after the begats, they didn't want even more people falling asleep.

Interbreed. Not inbreed.

That inbreed stuff sometimes manifests itself by utterances of those that profess to understand and are enthralled by millennia old superstitious tales told around bronzed aged, desert camp fires.

How do you know they didn't come from a common type? Or 3/4 of them came from one? The fact the don't interbreed today means nothing. You're assuming what is seen today has always been.

Yeah.

A lot can change in 6,000-some years.

Wouldn't that entail the concept of macro evolution? What a concept!

They're still giraffes, right? Did they grow a 2nd head or wings?
