Because reasonable people are aware that gay people and their relationships are of no concern, and aren't the business of other people, but inequality, bigotry and discrimination concern us all.

Because being bigoted against bigotry and intolerant of intolerance is the appropriate position to be in.
If someone posts lies, and someone points this out, it's not insulting or intolerant.
If you say "Black people are all lazy criminals" and I say "Wow. You are a bigot" and you come back to say "Hey! Why are you insulting me?" that just makes you a hypocritical imbecile; it doesn't make make me intolerant and it doesn't mean I am insulting you.
Why don't you guys put on your big boy pants if you are going to lie, or make bigoted or hypocritical statements?
