Is there any estimate of how many conservative Christians will sit out the election?

I have a cousin who is of this persuasion, and she, her husband and adult children and their spouses have all decided that both candidates are too repugnant to their religious values. She claimed that other people in her church had made a similar decision. These, of course, are only a handful of individuals, but it did set me to wondering if there are perhaps many similar who are being ignored in the fray.

But that was before they made an unholy alliance with conservative politicians and started making political calculations, and thus gave up even the appearance of being perched on moral high ground. “The world is getting a glimpse into the dark and rotting core of evangelicalism,” an evangelical with deep roots in the movement told me recently."

This month, Wayne Grudem, a theologian highly respected by evangelicals, rescinded his endorsement. Andy Crouch, executive editor of Christianity Today, wrote, “Enthusiasm for a candidate like Trump gives our neighbors ample reason to doubt that we believe Jesus is Lord.” James MacDonald, a pastor who had agreed to serve on Mr. Trump’s Evangelical Executive Advisory Council, called Mr. Trump “lecherous and worthless” and the council “a joke.”

Mind you these are evangelicals that are saying this and exactly why I started this thread.

The problem is, if we reject this guy, we elect a woman that is 5x as evil. That, to me, is what it comes down to. There were half a dozen candidates that the GOP put forth, and to be honest, a couple that the DNC put up that wouldn't have been bad in comparison.

I totally disagree with that statement. As I've mentioned before I don't think Hillary is a saint but she has done plenty of good in her life for others. Trump, given his vast wealth, has done virtually nothing except to diminish and denigrate others. Trump worships at the gold alter not for peace, love or forgiveness but for the actual gold. Personally, I think he is antithetical to all the tenants of Christianity.

We can debate the good she has done or not done, but the major issue to me is the Supreme Court. I have no reason that she would appoint any judge that has a clue what the Constitution actually says. Every indication I've seen is that she would appoint activist judges that will fundamentally destroy our country.

I truly believe it would be less moral for me to vote and allow her to do that than it would be to put Trump in office.

Is your sole reason in choosing a president, the potential Supreme Court picks? For me that is only one calculation in who I would choose for president. There is way too much at stake than just Supreme Court picks.

Like what? I believe in recent years we've seen the SCOTUS grow more and more progressive. I think Congress can limit what she does as President...but by appointing bad judges, they will run roughshod over our Constitution.

Like the 99.999999999% of functions that a president does besides picking a Supreme Court nominee. Do I really need to list the functions of the president besides picking a Supreme Court nominee for you?
