Because some people believe "Satan" is the name of some powerful demonic being, does not meant that I should be afraid of the word.
Well tell me, if your children were young (I have no idea of their ages, don't want to know), would you be ok with someone telling them all about the differences and not to be afraid of the name? And how about, as a result of that, they decided to engage with such people? Would you be ok with that too? Peace

I told my children the truth: Satan is a storybook character.

Telling them about what differences? The differences in values between various versions of Satanism?
If my children showed an interest in wanting to know about it and what I thought, I'd be very willing to discuss it with them, and ask them their thoughts as well.

I really don't want to get into a jab and barb contest with you, Rbbi. I'm sure I'd lose, anyway, because I'm not so great with the come-backs. More importantly, my intent is not to mock you, or to disrespect you, or tear you down. We have a different way of seeing things, clearly. I'm simply explaining my view.

That wasn't intended to mock, but rather give you a credible reason for your obvious disregard of it as a non-issue. Peace

No, I don't see it as credible.
You are correct in believing that I have never seen a demonic being. I don't believe such exist. I think there are possible explanations why you have seen things that you believe are demonic, and it has to do with the idea that what you focus on is what you see/get. That's why I think the author of Phil was wise to encourage people to focus on what is good, and the psalmist, also, who kept his eyes on God.
Ps. I appreciate you clarifying your intent.
