I just don't get why this should come as a surprise to anyone. It should be obvious by now, that pedophiles are known to get jobs either where there are children, or where they are close to children in their workplace. Why anyone thinks "religion" would change that, is beyond me. The Catholic church affords them a perfect opportunity and even supports their lifestyle just by virtue of how it's set up. And before the stones start flying, I'm not saying ANYTHING bad about Catholics per se, I know a lot of good Catholic people who are as horrified by all this as anyone else. Peace

This is not the case with civil law enforcement or secular courts. As the Catholic church enjoys some special privileges under law, it is difficult to investigate, fix, and prosecute many of these cases. Removing protections many religious organizations enjoy is an option, but those protections may violate the faith of many. There is no good solution, only hope the Catholic church improves (as it slowly is) over time to interdict when abuse occurs.

Religious forgiveness and secular judgment, CAN go hand in hand, one does not contradict the other, as one is spiritual and one is natural. They broke the laws of the land. Peace

That is what I thought when I read the news item. The investigation into the abuse at the boys' choir school has been ongoing for several years. So It is almost assured that Pope Benedict knew about it.
I am no concerned about that type of news, but what you should really pay attention to is more interesting. Last year pope went to Armenia to be blessed by Armenian Apostolic Church head.
For starters, pope is literally god on Earth. How can he be blessed by a lower rank priest?
But hey, check who did last opening sermon at the US senate - and Armenian Apostolic Church priest AND it was announced that next one will be done by another priest of the same rite.
