Not sure about if proven fiction. My experiences with spiritual matters have only brought positives and quality to my life. I lived about 25 years as basically agnostic, and about the same as spiritual, so I can compare both sides.
I can't see anything being proven fiction, but I don't think I'd change anything either. Belief and faith are much more than just believing some things happened, and everything riding on that. If you don't have what I'm talking about though, you'll never get what I'm saying, and you'll remain clueless. Everyone has their own journey. My experiences have no impact on yours, and vice versa. One's losses has no effect on another's gains.
Good try at trying to bash or lessen spiritual belief, but the premise won't hold up. I don't need to rely on throwing around scriptures, labels, or doctrines. This is basic Spirituality 101. It's universal.

Your term "what if" indicates speculation. Historians claim? All? Some? A few? Those with an agenda? You need to provide links and quotes, preferably from unbiased sites. Remember, just because it is on the internet doesn't mean it's true.
Remember the same when you make the claim about historians that accept that Jesus existed. All? Some? A few? Those with an agenda?
We want names, addresses, phone numbers, hair/eye colour, height, weight etc.
This thread has certainly produced just about every every kind of excuse, denial, closed -mindedness, wrong headedness and irrelevance as excuses to cling to the Christian security blanket.

What I think atheists in general miss about theists, Arq, is that they are not clinging to any particular security blanket. They are clinging to a belief in God, period. Everything else is human vanity and hubris.
Yes, Mystic, God -belief IS the security blanket. Your own security -blanket is quite familiar to us. It contains (or has in the past) just about every type of wrong -headness, irrationality and denial that one can think of. Except stupidity and ignorance. That at least, it doesn't show.
What if some events, people or even biblical kings were proven to be false?
Evangelicals use science (when it supports their interpretation) but will they embrace science when it has contradictory and even solid evidence that some events never happened.
Such may be the case with King Solomon...
"The biblical ruler is said to have accumulated 500 tons of pure gold from the mines, but experts now say the pot of wealth is unlikely to have ever existed.
Historians claim the Old Testament King’s story has been misinterpreted and King Solomon was in fact an Egyptian Pharaoh. "
"Unlikely" is not convincing and certainly doesn't point to real evidence.
Conservative Bible scholars say King Solomon was a king of Israel. Those secular historians offer no evidence.
The problem is the foundation on which a faith is built. If it is on the Bible, it is sand, if it is on the Spirit and the Way taught by Jesus it can work.
How do you know what Jesus taught if it is not in the Bible?
What do you mean 'What if...'?? They already have been - but to answer the question; Christians would still reject the proof in favour of 'faith' just like they do now. Nothing would change.
How do you know what Jesus taught if it is not in the Bible?
