The soul is your body, more specifically your brain...
Well that is kind of my point, people's ideas of spirit and soul individually and the differential between them is pretty muddy. Here you are saying the soul is your body, so why do you even need the word soul?
I decided long ago that both words (though, especially, "soul") are so poorly defined that they are great places to talk past other people on. So I try to get across the notion that whatever you choose to call it, the subjective and personally experienced aspects of what it is to be human are basically wishful thinking born of the yearning to escape our finiteness and mortality. In turn, that yearning, which we have tried to ennoble by slathering on a lot of hopeful rhetoric, is really just another one of our "immortality projects" as Becker put it, which in turn are just ego inflations where we try to live inauthentically as something more than what we actually are.
Was your embryo Fetus separate from you or just a different stage of you????
could the "embryo" understand it was surrounded and utterly connected to the system around it?
I was reading about microbes. What does it mean to be human when microbes can drastically influence you choices? Or the wind currents bring in chemicals that can change how you behave?
we are talking to embryos about being in a system that defines it. And we are shocked they deny it?

this is joel olsteen level self help. Not based on what is going on as much as what one wants to be going on, but useful none the less to the believers of a particular belief statement based on a god claim.
"what it means to be human" is the base that you need to address with knowledge claims. Base it on a belief statement about a god claim and we get a whole bunch of mumbo jumbo about some yearning, wanting, seeking souling thing or anti-souling yearning thing-a-ma-jug whoo whoo choo choo -ing.
The next step is the "power of now". again, not bad per say, but still just a belief based on a personal need.

Soul and spirit are two different components to our makeup. Thus, it says we were created spirit, soul, and body. That's 3; count 'em. So your comment has NADA to do with anything. Peace

We have a factual basis for the distinctions I am making based on our knowledge of living creatures who have an embryonic stage pre-birth and an adult stage post birth. There is NO such basis for your magical and superstitious beliefs about a separate soul versus a spirit prior to our birth as Spirit. We are embryo Spirits in the pre-birth stage and we will be full Spirits in the post birth stage upon our death and rebirth as Spirit. The processes are the same. The birth of Flesh is Flesh and the birth of Spirit is Spirit. No magic or superstition is needed.

equivalence: what we know is all we have to describe what we don't know.
We don't have a soul...we are a soul. We just have a body.
More like we borrow the body, I think.
