According to the Bible, Gods the 'good guy', the Devils the 'bad guy'.
Let's compare according to the Bible itself.
God did such a bad job creating his 'children', that he felt the need to erase his mistake by drowning everyone & all living creatures, save for a few of his favourites & 2 of every animal. As the flood waters rose & his 'children' pleaded & begged for mercy, God completely ignored them, watching them drown.
God has ordered the slaughter of millions over the years & genocide.
God thinks that rape victims should marry the rapist after he's given a few shekels to the victims father.
He's jealous, vain, angry, unforgiving, homicidal & judgemental.
Gods 2nd attempt at creating a family, was so inept that he decided to correct his incompetence by giving up his only son in a blood sacrifice.
Then he created a place of eternal torment for the majority of his 'children', many of whom are not even aware of this deal, to suffer forever.
The Bibles followers would have us believe that this Devil bloke is the Prince of Evil. But what's he actually done to earn such wrath & condemnation?
He appeared as a snake & encouraged Eve to help herself to Gods private stash of fruit (There's another strike against God. He's not a good sharer)
Then he told Jesus to 'go jump off a cliff'. Really? If the truth be known, Mr Devil might have been tired off his company, being constantly preached at, & out of exasperation he told Jesus to take a flying leap. Like saying 'Go play with the traffic' or 'Take a long run off a short pier'.
Either way, not a big deal. It's not as if he pushed the Rabbi off a cliff, or it would be a different story entirely.
According to the Bible itself, on one hand we have an inept, angry, jealous, judgemental, vain, psychopathic God (who's not a good sharer) & on the other, a cheeky bloke who has a lot of enemies for no logical reason.

I believe Satan is doing exactly what he was created for, the story of 'the fall' is just that...a story, to help us understand something we cannot otherwise comprehend, a 'fall' is something we can relate to.
It would make no logical sense for Gods most powerful angel to rebel, and be kicked out of heaven for his views on humans and their importance, and God to then banish him TO EARTH, AMONG US!! That would be like punishing the fox by locking him inside the hen house.
IN order for us to have free will, God had to have an adversary, an alternative to God in other words, sort of like if you went to the store to buy ice cream and they only have vanilla, you would not have a choice of what you buy (only one possible selection). For there to be a choice, there must be at least 2 possible selections to choose from.
This nonsense was predicted a couple thousand years ago.
2 Timothy 3:1-5
"Remember this! In the last days there will be many troubles, 2 because people will love themselves, love money, brag, and be proud. They will say evil things against others and will not obey their parents or be thankful or be the kind of people God wants. 3 They will not love others, will refuse to forgive, will gossip, and will not control themselves. They will be cruel, will hate what is good, 4 will turn against their friends, and will do foolish things without thinking. They will be conceited, will love pleasure instead of God, 5 and will act as if they serve God but will not have his power. Stay away from those people."
Isaiah 5:20 "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!"
