I think the decrease in dopamine takes her out of the spirit world and that dopamine needs to be present to enter it.The girl I'm talking about however was on meds that didn't stop them.

Voices are more often than not spirits but they can also come from within.
The personality of a past life incarnation for e.g., can be separated due to trauma & or mental disease, that stops it from integrating into/with the subconscious.
A little like a split personality disorder but it doesn't have the strength to dominate & take over the individual.

My sister-in-law sees dragons. Not so much when she is on her meds. But it can get scary when she is off them. Because she becomes irrational.
