Just wondering, do you think that beliefs and ideas should be primary, or should human rights have more cachet?

Jeff, I haven't seen this used in decades but..."Lighten up, Dude". It was a spoof response to a (possibly (1) spoof remark about worshipping UFO's and a tongue -in cheek response to you taking it So Seriously and ...well, Jeff, making us laugh by trying to give us atheists A Damn' good thrashing.

(1) because, as PoE's Law has observed, there is no spoof about religious believers so laughable that you can't fine one or two who solemnly believe something just as daft.

Define "human rights". That's really the issue.

Definition of human rights
: rights (such as freedom from unlawful imprisonment, torture, and execution) regarded as belonging fundamentally to all persons
Websters
Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, regardless of race, sex, nationality, ethnicity, language, religion, or any other status. Human rights include the right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of opinion and expression, the right to work and education, and many more. Everyone is entitled to these rights, without discrimination.

UN Website.

So, will that do? And what's your comment? I can well imagine complaints that the right of Christians to Free speech is being infringed, but it isn't. What they mean is the right to be the Only ones being free to speak. It steams them that atheists are allowed to speak freely, and not only do the various ploys for shutting us up or shutting us down (either will do ) fail to be effective, but we are, frankly, pummelling the religious apolgetics.

Mocking ridiculous beliefs loses all impact when it comes from a person that believes a zombie Jew with a virgin mother was performing magic tricks on a planet that is only 6k years old.

Weird how same sex marriage is not listed. But that's the thing....it's up to interpretation. Marriage isn't really included. Heck..I don't even see a reference to "sexual orientation" in that defintion, but all liberals go ape if a baker decides to not bake a cake for a same sex marriage.

I prefer Mr. Bean, but thanks anyways. If this discussion has eroded to spoofs and mockery then it's time to move on.

I wonder what his answer will be. Think we need to refer him to chapter and verse?
