On the other hand A Guaneri may cost more than a strad because he only made a few hundred and Strad made a thousand. The list of extant strads seems to show they are are all still around.. ..and you know Strad made cellos too?

P.s I'll give you an Op.n as a non -player (so what do I know) but I liked the factory made (compressed sawdust body) Chinese cello more than the antique..sweeter sound I thought. and the bigger sound of the antique cello - well, attach an amplifier pick - up inside ...you have to do that with a Jaw's harp anyway to perform 'Ives' washington's birthday' in concert.
