I started learning some energy techniques and the energy in this course of study comes from a higher power. I was wondering if someone without the belief in a higher power would be interested in this work.
I did a blog entry about energy. I don't want to debate the concept. Just wondering about the higher power subject.

If this alleged energy comes from an alleged higher power, why would you imagine that someone who doesn't believe in a higher power would be interested in it? Do you suppose that it would demonstrate to a skeptic that there is a higher power? If so, in what way?
Most unbelievers find the concept of the supernatural illogical and useless, not to mention discredited. So if you could demonstrate some actual substantiation for the reality and effectiveness of these "energy techniques", the way unbelievers will naturally react to that is to study it to see how it works. The assumption would be that it has a natural cause and that you are misattributing the source. But ... as with many things like homeopathy and NDEs and ghosts, it is unlikely to hold up to scientific scrutiny anyway; sorry.
Finally ... why do you ask for opinions / views and then prohibit "debating the concept"? The only answer I can think of is that you only want opinions / views favorable to the concept. Which strongly suggests that it can't stand up to scrutiny or criticism. Whereas a scientific hypothesis expects to be questioned and to attempt to be disproven. In fact, if a hypothesis is scientific, it spells out the ways in which it could be disproven. Does your "concept" do this? If not, why not?
I have seen no evidence that Reiki works at all. Without that evidence, I see no reason to contemplate external energy sources, aside from obvious ones like the sun.
Not asking about belief in energy or Reiki. The concept made me start wondering about how people feel about higher power.
We can discuss energy or Reiki. But that's off track. Did you check out my blog entry? I think energy work is misunderstood.
For something (Reiki) not to have worked for 2000 years it sure is popular. (my dog loves it!)

What if the source is internal? Just wondering. Maybe the energy in our bodies can be channeled to heal. Maybe some are better at it than others. Just wondering. I really don't know.
In a way I can see the possibility that there could be a power about. Whatever it may be I do not consider it intelligent or purposed. IMO, there is no god or Mother Nature.

I did check out your entry, but I admit I am unclear as to what you are asking.
I don’t believe in either a higher power or energy work, but those things aren’t really related in my mind. I had a good friend who was a Reiki practitioner. She made a modest living from it with a number of clients. She performed a number of Reili treatments on me, and I really kept an open mind. I felt absolutely nothing, despite knowing many people who swore they felt heat/energy/healing from her.
Talking just a bit about your blog post, you wrote about your wonder about the source of hair growth, among other things. I think that these things have perfectly reasonable biological explanations, with no need for a higher power.

Ok, but no need to consider a higher power in that case, right?
If Reiki was effective, wouldn’t we have clinical, double blind studies confirming this? Why don’t we? My conclusion based on the lack of evidence of efficacy is that Reiki simply doesn’t do anything.
