Why bother going to church then? Clearly he has a plan that you have no ability to change regardless of your actions.

The suspect who murdered your brother, I assume he is in jail. Is that God's plan too?

"You, your plan is to commit murder on an innocent human. You, your plan is to die tragically before your time. You, your plan is to commit a mass shooting. You, your plan is to kidnap someone and kill them then spend your entire life in prison before a lethal injection. Don't worry, I work in mysterious ways." What kind of God are are worshiping?

Obviously this is believers' rationalisation. The excuses of those who don't want to face facts. The whole problem of Evil is one of the biggest Q's that start people questioning, doubting and starting the slow slide to irreligion.

It was the reason that Darwin became an atheists. Evolution theory wasn't.

The point is a good one, and that the writers did not seem to understand that the treasury donations were set prices for sin -offerings and thought in terms of passing round the collection - plate at services and reminding the poor (which their flock tended to attract back then) that they were never too poor to hand over to the church every scrap of cash they had.

But Jesus ((for SOA supposing he said it) recognised that you can't get blood out of a stone. Some of those purporting to teach in His Name seem to have a different Interpretation in their "Ghost Bible"

"He looked up and saw the rich putting their gift into the treasury; and he said unto those that were there listening unto him "How generously these worthy men give of their plenty and thusly show that they are worthy of the Kingdom of heaven, and by rights of the earth, too, for their riches show how much God loves them more than others". And he saw a poor woman put in two copper coins, and he said:

"See how this woman cheats God of His due fee. I tell you, if she were employed by the Temple and acted so, she would be out on her ear this time tomorrow."

And those who were about him and listening to his words asked of him:

"But Lord, if she has no more money, how should she put into the Temple -offering any more than she has?" And he saithed right back to them:

"With God, all things are possible."

Luke 21: 1-4 Jesus looked up and saw the rich men cast theirs gifts into the treasury and he saw also a certain poor Widow casting in her two mites and he said of a truth I say unto you that this poor Widow has cast in more than they all because all of these have of theirs abundance cast into the offering of God ...

But she had cast in all the living that she had " meaning all the (money )" that she had.

On that particular day great love and faith was demostrated. Jesus revelation was that sacrificial giving demands More Love & Faith than giving out of your Surplus and your abundances.
