Why did these men have such attitudes and where did they derive them from? I started a new thread with this question since the one about Islam got taken over regarding this question.

As regards the individual nature, woman is defective and misbegotten, for the active force in the male seed tends to the production of a perfect likeness in the masculine sex; while the production of woman comes from a defect in the active force or from some material indisposition, or even from some external influence. –Thomas Aquinas, Doctor of the Church, 13th century: Summa Theologica I q. 92 a. 1

The primitive men who wrote the pamphlets which were later collated and form the bible were afraid of women's ultimate power: the ability to bring forth life. Since that same power also rendered them in need of assistance late in pregnancy and after giving birth, men took advantage of that "weakness." In exchange for the sperm donor's assistance, the women had little choice but to accept their status as little more than chattel.
To this day, weak, insecure men cling to their "holy" book's dictums that the little woman just stay quiet, barefoot and pregnant.
Strong, secure men are able to accept women as equals. Which is why you won't find any of them in a fundie sect.

None of those writers are considered inspired. Perhaps you should check with Catholics? They claim them.

The question was not whether they were inspired. You think the men of the Bible were inspired yet these men are using them as their source and foundation for such drivel.

Historically, men and women have used a variety of things to enslave others.
Yes, the Bible has been used by bad people to harm others. That doesn't mean the Bible is bad. Arson also happens..but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing to fire up the gas grill and cook a burger.
If you'd like to discuss Scripture, I'm open to it. But I will not defend or rebuke some guy that lived hundreds of years after the apostles.

Women are NOT secondary to men. I've said that repeatedly. The fact that you ignore my statements and draw your own conclusions about what I actually mean is a big indicator that you simply don't understand what Christianity teaches.
But that is the problem - they are reading the scriptures - and they are much closer to the time of their origin.
Why? They lived hundreds of years after the apostles. We actually have some manuscripts today from as early as about 125 AD--much ealier than them.
