The limitation of science seems to have eluded you. The belief that only science can provide the answers is not science, that belief is called scientism. Many fall into the scientism trap. Its tempting to those who are seeking certainty.
you need to be careful here jon. arguing for human's being in a larger more complex system that may be "something" and fundamentally integrated into it is different than just labeling something, that is very limiting, then prove that wrong or short sighted.
Any one can be doing science that is collecting data, drawing conclusions, then testing to see if that conclusion is valid. we do it all the time. Like many people do accounting. only the ones doing it for a living or a hobby do we tag as 'scienceing".
"science-ism" is a weird term. does it mean people that think what the universe is doing will reveal how the universe works?

No it means only that which is revealed by science is true.
That in itself is an unscientific claim.
