Exodus 22:18: "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live."
The belief in witches, and therefore the killing of "witches," is based on solid Christian beliefs. Christian beliefs ARE pagan in origin.
Under the Law that God gave to Moses, witches were to die -- and rightly so. Sin is pure wickedness and God detests it. Since Jesus, people are given space to consider and repent of the wickedness before God carries out the execution. Don't be deceived by God's forbearance because it's mercy being extended, not justice forgotten.
One thing that will not be tolerated, at all, in any of the Religion and Spirituality forum, is Holocaust denial, in any form or to any degree. I am simply unable to comprehend how hurtful that is to the Jewish member of our forums. I'm pretty sure that denial of the Holocaust discussions are forbidden across City-Data.

The above is yet another example of the damage religiosity can do to a human brain.

Good heavens!
You know you can just walk away from this god? He ceases to exist when you cease to believe in him. Unless a person is fundamentally evil ... ?
Condemning people is pure wickedness don't you think? Do you condemn 'witches'?
The Peanut Gallery can amuse themselves by checking out the absurd numbers of deaths allegedly caused by the assorted Inquisitions, 'witch burnings', wars falsely attributed to it, the Thrity Years War being a big fave for fake news from the 17th century, and they will find the numbers to be nothing but made up Protestant anti0Catholic propaganda and later on fake noise from the usual assortment of deviants and neurotics. The numbers are blatantly ludicrous on their face, which should be an alarm bell right off the bat; if they were factual, the population of Europe would be less than zero, maybe a few Japanese tourists hiking through the forests or something.
The population of Europe in 1600 was about 78 million. The total number of people who died as a result of the 30 years war, including disease and famine, was about 8 million.
Losing about 10% of the population is horrific, but doesn’t put you anywhere near depopulating Europe.
The inquisition killed maybe 300,000 a couple of centuries before that, and witch burnings accounted for some tens of thousands in addition, over a few centuries.
How is any of this blatantly ludicrous? How do you think these numbers even come close to el8minating the population of Europe?
303guy said nothing about hating god. He said you can walk away. Very, very different.
The suicide bomber comment is uncalled for. That does seem a bit hateful.
Hateful was not the adjektive I was thinking of.
