Does anyone in their right mind believe other religions don't have this same problem? They are just better at covering it up.
No one would dare criticize a certain religion which is protected by the elites and the Left which condones the marriage of old men to underage girls. They turn a blind eye to a lot of rapes, blaming and punishing the victims. I'm not saying everyone in that religion is guilty but then, not every Catholic is guilty either, right?

This is a Catholic church problem, and when the Pope says it's the work of the devil, it means that they will not take responsibility.
What is responsibility? Turn over the priests to the police, and not bury them in your organization. There is NO excuse.
I feel sorry for the good priests and nuns who will be tarred with the same brush of their corrupt brothers and church officials. Donations which support them in retirement are drying up and I hope they will be able to get food stamps if they need them.
Well, they should be ok. The super -rich church can dig into their bottomless coffers and bail out their deserving servants who have been turfed off the gravy train by reason of the dishonesty of the church they work for.

Having worked with middle schoolers most of my adult life, anyone who thinks a 7 year old is capable of good decision making is a moron...pure and simple.
In some cases, people are allowing their 7 year olds to decide their own gender. Just saying.
Well of course your colleague is going to say that, if they are either an atheist/ secular or a low church Evangelical Protestant that wants to generalize from everything they read in the news.
I have heard similar comments as well. The whole thing is still in process, and those that were involved have been gradually weeded out, so we can all move on and move forward.

I'm not Catholic. But I was married to a Catholic, and of course his whole family was Catholic. And over the years, I've had really good friends who were Catholic. Going back to middle school.
Now...this is only my narrow observation...but what has been my experience, is that ALL of my Catholic family and friends knew at least one "funny priest". And jokes would be made along the lines of avoiding being alone with Father****. To MY non-Catholic observation, dealing with a "funny priest" was just part of the total Catholic package.
It's pretty hypocritical, when a divorced parishioner is denied the sacrament of mass, but a pedophile can dish out the sacrament with (at least in the past) no repercussions.
And it seems to me, the Catholic Church is always being REACTIVE as opposed to PROACTIVE. If a priest is found to be abusing people, they need to be routed out, defrocked, and prosecuted. Not have excuses made for him, and wink wink hush hush, move him to a different parish where he can start all his tricks again.
And from a spiritual perspective, those priests need the 'opportunity' to practice penance and feel sorrow for what they perpetrated. (Even if the sorrow is totally self-serving because they got caught.)

That's the way they were made, after all. But it's an interesting development. I trust that you can give a link or reference to substantiate this claim of yours.
There is no other religious group that has shown itself to have a pedophilia problem on this scale. I think it is ridiculous of you to suggest that other denominations are better at "covering it up." That is without basis.
That makes no sense and is another conspiracy allegation. The only conspiracy here is the conspiracy to shield predator priests. No one has alleged that every Catholic is guilty of sexual abuse.
