Just FTR, I am by no stretch fluent in Hebrew. In terms of modern Hebrew I can understand much of it conversationally but I try not to speak it if I can avoid it because I fear I will embarrass myself (though when I have had to, I get by). In terms of older versions of Hebrew, I am a continuing student. I can read it and understand its methodology and follow texts written in its various forms. I think "fluent" is a vast over statement though.

If you're going to go after a mistranslation from the Torah, then you might as well go after the #1 mistranslation: 'satan'.
O Man, don't get Richard talking about Satan, we will have all the evil spirits coming at once to possess anyone who follows him, there will be turning heads and green vomit, lights will begin to flicker, and who knows what demons will come flying out of my mouth. It wont be good, just saying.

Let's go after a simple being who was a simple adversary in the Tanakh, turned unto the boogeymen creature created by the Christians to scare the living drek out of them.

From what I read the Hebrew word satan is employed only ten times throughout the entire Tanakh, four times as an adjective, four times as a verb and only twice personified, if I remember correctly, in Job and in Job he was an Angel of G-d doing G-d’s bidding...

Son of perdition in all people, not foreign to Jewish thought.
