In my whole life, whenever I've helped someone -- which has been often -- I never said, "I'm a Methodist" or "I'm A Catholic", or "I'm A Buddhist". I just helped because it was the right to do. And I expected nothing but perhaps a thank you.
Indeed, and I'll just say "Shaddup" to the voice in my head saying "You're just doing that to feel better about not doing more " And when they say "God bless you", I wince, smile and nod.

Right. And I help people all the time without mentioning my religion. Those same two young guys wouldn't mention their religion either if they were to do a favor for someone when not serving in an official capacity in which it was their job to represent their Church. They probably don't even make a point of saying they're missionaries, but they do wear their name tags wherever they go -- even if it's just to the supermarket or the post office. They are the face of their Church -- 24/7, 365 days a year for 2 years straight. I see nothing wrong with their not trying to disguise that fact. I genuinely believe they help people out for the same reason you or I would. They see a need; they help out and move on, more than likely without even mentioning their religion. You see an ulterior motive in their service, and I probably can't do anything to change your mind about that. It appears as if we're going to just have to agree to disagree on this matter.

Well gee...a Mormon doesn't see an issue with Mormon missionary/conversion practices. What a shocker.

As a Mormon, I've taken issue with a number of my Church's policies over the years and have never shied away from speaking my mind when I disagree with my Church's leadership. I'm sorry I can't agree with you on this particular topic, but if you knew me better, I kind of don't think you'd have responded to me the way you did.

Yes I would on this topic. Because I am opposed to all attempts to convert people to some other religious belief than they already have. In my view it is wrong UNLESS the individual seeks such conversion of his own accord.

I can see no justification for ANYONE to try to force their beliefs on anyone else for ANY reason, let alone an entire society. Secular laws must be for secular reasons that involve the safety and security of the members of society. ANY religious beliefs apply ONLY to the individuals possessing them and have no relevance to society at large. Any suggestion otherwise is pure arrogance.

What I meant was that you seem to think that because I am LDS, I am always automatically 100% on board with every policy and decision the LDS Church leadership makes. Your comment followed by "What a shocker" just seemed a little harsh, that's all, since that's not who I am at all.

I've walked in others' lanes - some rough-hewn, some paved - but never felt comfortable on any path but the one I have made. Even if the going got tough.
Looking back, I began carving it early. That it diverges from all others doesn't bother me. Mine intersects with theirs often enough to remind me that most belief systems' chief aim is to produce better people.
I'm ok with anyone who doesn't think their way of doing that is the only way.
That was not my intention. I didn't know if you realized how you came across, but I guess you did. I saw your "What a shocker" comment as a kind of an insult directly at me personally and it surprised me, that's all. No biggie.
