so which copy are we going to settle on as the official one?

Didn't someone point out the Exodus literally and specifically says which of the many commandments listed in Exodus are the only labeled as the 10 commandments and it's not the 10 that Christians choose?

I think that detail you are skipping over there is what the O.P. is literally about.

Is it:

Exodus 20: 1-22 (for which Exodus 20: 23-26 includes 4 more commandments and 1 promise)
or
Exodus 34: 13-28 (which even Exodus 34: 1 and Exodus 34:28 both state that these second tablets will be litterally re-iterations of the originally broken tablets).
or
Deuteronomy 5: 3-26 (for which Deutoeronomy 5:22 says that Exodus 1-22 is the only commandments that God spoke to the Israelites at the time and the ones that were written in the tablets. However it replaces God's example in Genesis as the best and last reason for the Sabbath with the idea they needed to honor God's command of repose because they owed God for saving them from Egypt's enslavement of them for illegal immigration).

Yeah, the bible is not written by authors of confusion, is it?
