His Gospel was already being preached in his church hundreds of years before 'the book' was written/canonized (NT).

Ah. Well, that's where I would disagree. Paul wasn't even preaching Jesus -as -God, let alone the disciples not preaching it.

Assuming, of course, that they really existed.

I find those that spoke directly to God and vice versa are not the smartest in the bunch...me included...
it is mainly because we needed it more than most!! (Because we are, indeed, so dense...we need
more help than others.) Something we know all too well ourselves.
Smart? Special? Yeah, like the puppy that gets more attention cuz it keeps falling in the mud.
