There is only one way to vet prophecy and that IS after the fact, Arq. Prophecy should NOT be based on the agendas, expectations, and desires of those reading them. We are not smart enough or prescient enough to do that. The prophetic interpretations based on the expectations and agendas of the Israelites failed, but what did occur has validated the Jesus interpretation for millennia.

So good for Them and Good for Him !!

if anyone agendas make you twisted the bibles words beyond the obvious and simplest and purest answers,

Maybe, or maybe because it suits your agenda, you like to hear about some people who are more genetically Jewish than Jewish by knowledge and are ignorant of Judaism, and who after a life of drugs, sex and no real connection are easily influenced to try what you like. Have fun with that.

Falsely. It's time to show how it is false. The one I most like are the prophecies associated with Judas' death in Matthew and Acts 1. check them in the OT and see that they are made of bits taken out of passage and changed to make it fit the situation. Worthless.

One almost as god is the prophecy associated with the Massacre at Bethlehem. It is to do with the destruction of the northern kingdom ('Rebecca's children' as I recall) by Assyria. But here is is a prophecy of a massacre that nobody else - including the other gospel -writers, who indeed no nothing of Matthew's nativity at all - knows about and is a rather clumsy plot for dislodging Jesus from Bethlehem so he can become (as Matthew triumphant puts it as a sort of prophecy, which it isn't) "He shall be called a Nazarene".

I'll skip over the too - often cited Almah/Bethulah Septuagint misreading and do instead one of the classics - the piercing the spear and breaking of the legs. That didn't happen. The synoptics have no clue about it. Indeed, Luke refutes it as he has Jesus show his war -wounds in hands (should be wrists, of course) and feet but Not in his side, as John has it. It is clearly made up by John, and he loots the Psalms passage to support it.

After this the absurd gift of prophecy bestowed upon Caiaphas of all people whose order to get shot of Jesus becomes, in John, a prediction of the spread of the church, is easy meat. And so they all fall. The quote of Hosea at the council of Jerusalem, to the absurd quoting of psalms on the cross. And most of the rest of the Book.

Mystic, I need no instruction from you upon how to deal with prophecy. Rather it is you - and all these peddlers of prophecy - who need to do a bit of listening.
