I hope not, either, but I anticipate the worst.

They keep saying how intense is the heat inside the stone walls with no roof. It's a giant oven.

Wow! This is real life!

Congrats to all who saw the original, sort of like New Orleans.

I don't know if there's been any loss of life, but there's definitely some historical loss.

OK. Didn't get that out of your cryptic New Orleans remark, but yes, there is a ton of historical loss.

And I have a question. They keep talking about lost artifacts and relics, specifically mentioning the (supposed) crown of thorns. However, I thought that the (supposed) crown of thorns was supposed to be housed at St. Chapelle, which was built specifically to house the crown of thorns.

Any experts on Parisian religious art and architecture here?

I may be an atheist, but I am also a lover of architecture, history, and beauty, so this is just terrible. I was really hoping to be able to see it in my lifetime, but looks like that is now out the question, at least as far as seeing it in all of its glory.

The linked article said they were working on it before the collapse.

Yes, I am watching CNN, and since I typed that, they did say they were able to get some of the key artifacts out.

Mere words like tragic and horrific just seem like understatements
