The Sabbath Commandment (Exodus 20:8-11) says that we are to remember the Sabbath because God created. It follows that if we forget the Sabbath we will forget Creation and we will forget the Creator. We forgot the Sabbath and today we live in a world that is dominated by athiests who teach a theory of evolution that has been accepted by most of the major Sunday Churches--and some of their pastors aren't sure if God is alive or not.

There is no insecure, bloodthirsty, jealous God with abandonment issues that demands we all observe him or else die, like the Bible would have you think. The Bible lies. The Bible is an abomination, and is the most dangerous book ever comprised, that actually rips people away from an all knowing, eternally loving God. Buddha is more proof of an all knowing, compassionate God than the Bible.

Don't worry, if you get to the Pearly Gates and get sentenced to hell for a Sabbath violation, you can lawyer your way out of it.

To wit: The concept of each 7th earth day being the Sabbath is not supportable if we are to believe the Genesis creation chronology. The earth was not created until the third day. In that our entire conception of what constitutes a day is based on how long it takes the earth to turn 360 degrees, clearly the first two days of creation were tracking some other form of chronology to define a day. For all we know it might have been one second long, in which case we would need to be keeping the Sabbath every seven seconds, or it might have been a hundred thousand years, in which case the next Sabbath may never occur in your lifetime.

In that it is entirely unreasonable for a deity to expect us to keep a Sabbath while depriving us of the proper definition, god can hardly punish us for violating a law so vague.

I try to remember to give thanks to the Creator every day.

Sometimes more than once!

If the Sabbath day is unknowable why does the Sabbath commandment specify it is the seventh day? Why did God send mana every morning for five days, double the sixth day, and none the seventh day for 40 years (Exodus 16). Don't you think that pretty well told God's people which day He meant? In Matthew 24:20 Jesus expected His followers to continue keeping the Sabbath 70 years after the Cross. In Acts 16:13 the Apostle Paul went down by the river to pray on the Sabbath, and in Acts 13:42 Paul taught the Gentiles in the synagogue on the Sabbath.

Don't forget about Zelophehad, the man Moses and YHWH had stoned to death for picking up sticks on the Sabbath, or Jesus, the guy YHWH had nailed to a cross for healing on the Sabbath.

The Sabbath commencement is man made, so that does not apply here.

As for the mana, how do you know you are interpreting that correctly? Maybe it was supposed to mean that you fast every seventh day after eating double the day before.

Keep in mind that the entire concept of a week is artificial. A year is tied to the Earth's orbit around the sun. A month is tied to the lunar cycle, a day is tied to the rotation of the earth, but a week? We made that one up.

All the other Commandments may be kept because they seem reasonable. But the only reason for keeping the Sabbath is that God said so.

I don't tinik the world is dominated by atheists, since the vast majority of people belong to some religious denomination. There are many differences among people's religious belliefs and, unfortunately, those differences have been the cause of much of the war and persecution throughout history.

It's true that most mainline churches accept evolution. However, I'm somewhat alarmed at the high percentage of people who don't believe in evolution, despite all of the scientific evidence.
