If religion is good at making people more moral why ate only approximately 0.1% atheist while 99.9% is Christian or Muslim?

How many were religious (not by birth but by belief) before they got into prison?

I suspect that many villains think that saying that they have 'found Jesus' will go well with the parole board.

You’re not born religious. You need the virus to infect you to become religious.

LOL...nice link backing up your statistic.

Edit: In looking at the OP's posting history, I see he's famous for posting erroneous statistics. I'm not biting. Nice try though.

That's a really good point. I Googled and found this: https://friendlyatheist.patheos.com/...on-population/

Make of it what you will.

All right.

Here's your data This FOIA request in 2013...

...resulted in this data being released by the Federal Bureau of Prisons:

As you can see, out of approximately 216,000 inmates, precisely 161 self-report as atheists.

The following 538 article notes some potential issues with those numbers. But there they are. Perhaps this thread can now proceed on the topic, rather than with complaints about data and excuses not to 'bite'.

No Jews or Hindus or Buddhists in the prisons?

If yes then Jews and Hindus and Buddhists religion followers are better than Atheists, no?

A valid point - the 1% or so reflects the low numbers of professed atheists. Even so, it's lower than even the classic 6-8% atheists as it used to be in in the good Old days before New Atheism. Hindus and Buddhists presumably have a tiny percentage of inmates because there aren't many of them in the US.

It can't be ruled out also that (as one poster noted) there is a great incentive to claim to have found Jesus in prison because of an expectation of preferential treatment if you do.
