Christians are blind to the fact that the whole "you need Jesus to be saved from your sins and hell" was a scheme concocted by the church fathers to force people to accept Christianity and by extension them. Basically, they were saying "You need Jesus to keep out of hell. And because we are Jesus' emissaries on earth you need us too." The whole thing was so conniving it is shocking Christians today don't see through this blatant ruse.
