A new study of DNA recovered from an ancient Philistine site in the Israeli city of Ashkelon confirms what we know from the Bible -- that the origin of the Philistines is in southern Europe,” Netanyahu wrote.

Netanyahu then referenced Amos 9:7 and Jeremiah 47:4, which say the Philistines came from Caphtor – modern-day Crete, the Greek island in southern Europe.

“The Bible mentions a place called Caphtor, which is probably modern-day Crete,” Netanyahu wrote. “There’s no connection between the ancient Philistines & the modern Palestinians, whose ancestors came from the Arabian Peninsula to the Land of Israel thousands of years later.”

Also, the Biblical city of Ziklag was recently discovered. Course, a million finds that support the Biblical narrative won't change the minds of skeptics. The Bible is one of the most supported historical documents from that time period by external evidence and yet they regard it as a bunch of myths by ignorant farmers. Because they HAVE to.

Why come right out of the gate so defensive? And who exactly are "they" you seem to jump right to demeaning?

I have no skin in the game and in fact consider myself a spiritual person. I presume you hold dear strong Christian values, yet your tone seems inconsistent with the teachings of Jesus. Why try so desperately to witness using negative connotation rather than humbleness?

Just curious.

There really are places called Oklahoma and California. I know -- I've been to both. The Dust Bowl actually happened, so did the Great Depression, and there really was a great migration of poor farm laborers (called Okies) to the Central Valley, often following Route 66, a real road. These things are attested by archaeology, as well as photographic, written, and oral histories.

According to Jeff's logic, this proves that Tom Joad was a real person and that The Grapes of Wrath is actual history.

Hogwarts is in Britain and there really is a Britain because it's on maps. Therefore, Harry Potter is true.

We have documented proof that Harry Potter is a work of fiction created by a specific author who says it is a work of fiction from her mind. Try again.

So are the other holy books that mention real places and people also 100% true, Jeff? Or is it only your Bible that you give special pleading to?

The similarities are there - right down to a scar on the forehead.
But the biggest thing they share are eleven letters spelling out two short names. Harry Potter.
And as the dark-haired young man (the one without the glasses) pictured here can testify: being a real-life Harry Potter is not quite as magical as it might seem.

Jokes aside.

Nati will claim anything to prove he has right to rid of Palestinians. Whatever touches Palestenians and Jews relationship is so politically charged, that it will never be true and will always be favoring one side.
I have doubt, should he still be around, Arafat would have claimed something immediately opposite, to the favor of his people, and proving that Jews came from mountains of China and have no right to HIS people land.

I guess it's shocking news to find out the Philistines came from "southern Europe/Crete. I bet pretty soon they confirm the Bible's veracity by proving that Romans came from Rome.
