“'To the contrary, as Attorney General, you no doubt know that according to data published by the FBI, the rate of violent crime in the United States has fallen by 49% since 1993. The timeline of this fall in violent crime correlates to the explosive growth of secularism in the United States.'
Even if religiosity were to reduce crime rates, suicide, and depression and such...there'd be a good chance it'd be mostly to do with the community atmosphere created by churchgoing rather than the religion itself anyway.

Not only that, the Bible Belt has the highest violent crime rates of any region in the United States. That right there belies that nonsense that religion makes people more well-behaved.
Still if everyone were to obey the ten commandment that God gave Moses than there would be no need for locks on people home doors , and if God would have a eternal awakening for masses of people than the police would not have anything to do and the hospitals would be not busy .....

Also high poverty. Religiosity somehow also breeds poverty. It may not be correlative.

Still if everyone were to obey the Five Precepts that Buddha gave all of us, then there would be no need for locks on people's door, and if people would act as suggested in the Tipitaka, then the police would not have anything to do and the hospitals would not be busy.
In other words, you don't have a monopoly on morality.

I veer towards thinking poverty results in religiosity. If you have less goody-goodies, an afterlife full of the goody-goodies is probably going to be more appealing than if you already have more goody-goodies.
Also, I don't know how religion would create poverty...but that's just an assumption.

Most religious people are also less progressive in social issue such as women’s equality, equal pay, abortion.
